What's going on? Is something out of the ordinary making you both extra tired?
Not that it's any of my business ... I'm just being nosy ... |

I'm working 10-hour days with little A/C. Ten hours in the heat is bad enough, but I'm moving equipment, running cables through ceilings--manual labor
kind of stuff. By the end of the day I'm pooped (and dirty and yes, probably a bit stinky).
I've spent a couple of weekends lately helping clean out my grandmother's house. That's a whole nuther post...long story.
I need calgon to take me away!

Kickers: now, that's some serious labor you're talking about, there. Although I was born up here in Hoosierland and am back here now, I did live in
Orlando for five years back in the 80s, and I know how it gets. If I were there, I'd draw you a bubble bath, and I wouldn't even try to peek when you
went to use it.
Oh, sure, you believe that, too, right?
Deleme: dammit, you oughta warn me before posting one of those! That, or you should come and wipe off the Diet Pepsi I just spewed all over my monitor.
Besides, since we all lost our balls, I figured I might as well try the other thing, y'know? |

That's what I love about this place...work 10 hours, come home
tired and dirty, and still get a laugh!

Hi Kickers, The job sounds awful. I know how hot it is at this time of the year over there. I hope there is an opportunity to move into other types of work. By the way, everyone, onereason I haven't posted for a few months is I forgot the web site address.
I do have another, better, excuse. My eldest daughter got married in April and now my 2nd daughter is getting married in September - in Sydney (not here in Melbourne). Can you say... busy?
The first wedding went well and now I am caught up with the second one. At least I can easily recall what needs to be done and what mistakes not to make a second time. I am still working full-time, decluttering away at home and renovating, etc. Hi to everyone... hope you are doing well!

Actually, Strong, it's the best job I've ever had and I really do love it. It's just the summers that are bad. A few years ago someone in an
administrative position got the bright idea that 4-day workweeks would save the system $$ because the buildings would be unoccupied for three days every week.
That's fine for all the folks at central office who sit at a desk all day, but they don't think about the folks like me who are doing physical labor
all day long.
At my school the classrooms all have air, but the hallways don't. I spend a lot of time going from room to room working, moving and cleaning equipment, etc. Once I am in a room I can hit the air and get cooled down, but I spend a lot of time in the un-airconditioned areas. I've also had to run a lot of cable this summer, and it's always hot up in the ceiling (and a lot of fun working in all that insulation!). Thankfully it only lasts a couple of months and then we go back to a regular schedule...for what that's worth. Once the teachers come back (even before school starts), I'm hopping. They all have some special request and I always try to make it happen. Of course, that's also why the teachers all love me so much!
It's good to see you posting again. I was just thinking a day or so ago that you hadn't been around in a long time!

It doesn't sound too bad after all | ||

Well of course the teachers love you Kickers. I can't imagine people at work being anything but happy with your work and company. My work has been dragging
recently. I am really burned out but I have to keep working as I spent way too much money that should have been saved for retirement.
Oh - and for my daughters' weddings!
I have been doing the same type of job since 1982 - that's 26 years!
No matter how good a job is, it isn't going to be exciting after that long.
